It’s never nice to feel uncomfortable or unsafe, when travelling. It stops you from immersing yourself completely into a culture, and can stop you from enjoying your trip all together.

Nimes lies in the Languedoc region of Southern France, and is a hubbub of Roman history and city life.

The Ardèche is a stunning region in the Rhone-Alps, South-East France. And it is one of my favourite places to be.

There are so many towns and villages in France that are homes to beautiful architecture, ranging through the centuries, but that are dilapidated and being left to die, purely because of a lack of income into the area.

Just 50km outside of Paris, on the edge of the Champagne region, lies the small citadelle of Provins. With ancient walls, beam houses, and a one of the only octagonal defencesive keeps in existence, Provins is a beautiful city with a long, and colourful history.

The great escape.

The journey to Dover was long and tedious, made worse by the fact that the trains in the channel tunnel were running an hour behind schedule due to problems on the line. However, it did allow me the chance to curl up in the camper and catch up on some much needed sleep before heading south, to Saint Omar, where I parked up for the first night.

Not quite North, not quite South.

Despite my insistence that the Midlands is not a real place (North or South, that's your choice), it is where I found myself exploring last weekend.

Wild Camping.

People may think that describing our night away as Wild Camping may be a slight stretch when it involved the camper, a king size duvet, and waking up to a peppermint tea. However, it was Wild Camping non the less.

Storm Chasing.

After the heat we've had for the past couple of days, it was inevitable that a storm was going to roll in.

Overlooking the canal, with an idyllic beer garden that you would normally only find in a Richard Curtis rom-com, The Barge Inn is one of the most beautiful pubs I have ever laid my eyes on.

The smell of home-cooked pub food drifted on the breeze and through the campsite.
