Psychedelic Dreaming.

I long for summer. But that’s not unusual. I always long for summer. Especially living in Britain where our actual summers are more representative of a mild rainy season. However, these dark winter nights and ice cold rain often leave me dreaming, more than ever, of white, sandy beaches, ice cold cocktails and festival filled weekends.

Luckily, to get me at least part of the way towards my perfect, lazy, summer days, I was sent a fantastic pair of the cutest sunnys by the lovely folks over at Rainbow-FX. Not only are these perfect festival accessories adorned with the brightest tie-dye print (at which point my inner dreadlocked, tassel covered hippy cries out in love), and styled in that classic wayfarer way, they are also in fact more than just glasses. These little beauties are in fact diffraction glasses, created with a lens that basically does what it says in the tin. They diffract light causing a psychedelic, brightly coloured light show, all while looking so god damn adorable. Think kaleidoscope meets Rayban meets Pink Floyd and you’ll start to get a great idea. Look towards any form of light, and before your very eyes, an explosion of colour will bounce around. However, get them on at a festival and combine them with a light show, and you have a completely and utterly magical acid trip, without the paranoid freak out and the harsh comedown.

Diffraction glasses are still pretty unheard of over here in the UK, however were an absolute hit across the world last summer, especially at Coachella, truly the festival of festivals. Because I’m impatient (to put it lightly), I couldn’t wait for summer to play with my pair. Or even for the lights in a club. So I decided it would be in my best interest to have an evening of playing with sparklers and fireworks and watching these incredible streams of coloured shapes flicker before my eyes. Truly fantastic, if not a little chilly.

And now, due to my aforementioned impatient manner, I simply cannot wait to get mine out this summer, teamed with a classic pair of what other than denim cut offs and big sun bleached hair and I will be ready to dance the warm nights away. Now pass me that Daquiri.
