Birthday Celebrations!

I have been completely and utterly spoilt rotten.

I'm lucky enough to start my holiday with my birthday - which is the first year in 5 years that I haven't been working!

It started late on Friday night, with a cold wait in the train station. P came down to spend the weekend with me - of which I cannot thank him enough.

Saturday morning was a drive out to the sticks, and an early birthday lunch at The True Lover's Knot.

My plan was a light lunch, because we were heading out in the evening as well.

However plans rarely go to plan... so after a stunning three courses filled with a game stew, a poachers board (pigeon, grouse and pheasant) and the most amazing Purbeck Christmas Pudding ice-cream, we went for a walk over Badbury Rings.

Utterly stunning, and truly one of my favourite views of Dorset.

The clouds were starting to close in, so we made an escape and went to get ready for dinner.

There was nowhere too adventurous in store, but my favourite, South Deep. I always feel that I don't try enough places, but it genuinely is such good food, and a very short walk from home, that I can't think of anything better!

After a beautiful meal, I was treated to the most fantastic birthday cake. My 12th Birthday involved a butterscotch Dougle cake, and quite honestly, nothing has every been quite as good. Until this...
Chocolate, KitKats and Pigs in Mud! And completely handmade by my Mum's friend. (Thank you Karen!)

It was then back home to a very large bottle of rum and Emma. (If you haven't watched this series - watch it! Make sure it's the BBC version).

So not the most exciting, out until morning birthday like years before, but one quite genuinely, the best one yet.
